Nicolas Jaar – Don’t Break My Love (Free EP)

I’d like to finish Thursday off with the inevitable Nicolas Jaar post. After a fairly sustained pause he offers up this two track EP for no charge at all, probably inciting enough hysteria to ensure no one can get tickets for the tour it precedes. I went to fabric though, and it was uncomfortably rammed, thus I am happy to dwell on this in the comfort of my own ears. Typically down-tempo and beautifully minimal, Jaar builds layer upon layer of noise eventually finding a groove and then, some bass. Lovely!

Maceo Plex – Stay High Baby

Maceo Plex seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment. The EP, released on his new label Ellum Audio features two tracks. The one that literally gives this writer goose pimples is posted here: “Stay High Baby”. It’s got true deep and sexy Maceo bass and vocals with real feeling that will grab deep dancefloors the world over. I’m always amazed by Maceo’s synth work. Listen to the main breakdown and you’ll know exactly what I mean. GetDownGood would like to wish Maceo Plex all the best with his new label.

Metronomy – Everything Goes My Way (Jamie Blanco’s 808 Acid Mix)

More Ibzian Riviera than Devonshire coast, this is Jamie Blanco’s 808 Acid remix of a Metronomy song. I have to be completely honest: I wasn’t bowled over by ‘The English Riviera’. Completely personal preference, but for all its ice creams and seagulls, it didn’t get into my soul. I just didn’t find any of the melodies catchy enough, I didn’t like a quality in the vocals and I therefore dismissed it because I am mean. I do however honestly love this. I love the warmth the bassline brings, I am truly astounded by what is unlocked on that drum machine, and as it clicks purposefully into the last breakdown, I adore it when the Charles-B-esque acid descends on the ending. I also concede a previous point, the vocal works…in this instance. It’s available to download on Jamie’s Soundcloud, how lovely!

Burnski – Orange and Blue [Free Download]

Here is a tune that many a Burnski advocate will have been waiting for. Most will have been aimlessly searching for ‘Believe’ however, due to the fact it has been tracklisted as such numerous times . So here it is, Orange and Blue, and he’s giving it away for free, handsome man! On an inter-ma-web saturated with half arsed social media campaigns, this one’s refreshingly simple; give us your email and we’ll give you a bloody amazing track. So get over there and give em what they want.
