Sun Glitters – Beside Me (Essáy’s Calm Interpretation)

Towards the end of last year, our friend Sun Glitters released an album which we got very excited about. Then very early this year, Little White Earbuds and Smallville got together on one of the best podcasts we’ve ever heard, which included this remix of ‘Beside Me’ by Essay. Personally, I could listen to those chords on loop for quite some time, and better still, it’s available to buy now along with 16 other album remixes. So much good news in such a small post…aren’t we good to you?

Andy Ash – Mason in my Basin

It’s housey, disco-ish edit o’clock here at GetDownGood, this time in the form of Andy Ash’s sublime ‘Mason in My Basin’, a cheeky re-working of Eddie Kendrick’s ‘Darling, Come Back Home’. It’s beautifully done, balancing a solid groove with a lovely vocal sample. The Dance EP it’s taken from is out now on Foto Recordings. Enjoy!

Daniel Bortz – Can’t Sleep at Night

Apologies for the distinct lack of blog action this week…I was busy raving it up at ADE, and my fellow GetDownGood-ers have dropped the ball. Shame on them. By way of apology, here’s a preview of an incredible track taken from a forthcoming EP by our man Daniel Bortz. Solomun dropped this early-doors at the Diynamic party last Thursday and people literally spunked themselves with joy all over the dancefloor. It was quite a sight to behold, if a little messy…

Daniel Bortz will be joining GetDownGood for a pre-Xmas party on December 2nd at London’s Basing House. Limited £6 advance tickets are available from RA now.

Jef K & Gwen Maze – Boy Meets Girl

We’re big fans of Parisian DJ/Producer Jef K over here at GetDownGood. The man knows how to lay down serious sets, party hard and produce deep, grooving underground house. His latest release with production partner in crime Gwen Maze on One Records is no exception. Lush drums and quirky vocals make you want to cut the bass out, and bring the modernly adapted house groove crashing back in. The rest of the EP sees tracks from Jordan Peak, Alex Arnout, John Dimas and Julien Sandre. Another quality release from One Records out on the 29th of August. Go and buy it!

James Blake – Limit to Your Love (DB Edit)

To be perfectly honest, James Blake’s ‘Limit to Your Love’ kinda passed me by. Maybe there was a bit too much going on within the track for me to be able to appreciate just how beautiful the vocal was, or maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention; whatever. The important thing is, there’s no chance of me letting this one slip by without the acknowledgement it deserves; this is quite simply stunning, with Daniel Bortz stripping away all but the very barest of essentials, creating a slice of deep house that simply aches with melancholy.  Coming soon to Keine Rechte and on Discogs for a ridiculously inflated price fairly soon after I’d imagine…don’t say we didn’t want you.

Slow Hands – Sweetest Taboo

It helps if you’re a fan of the original of course, but in my opinion Slow Hands’ take on Sade’s sublime ‘Sweetest Taboo’ is one of the most worthwhile and delicately handled covers I’ve heard for a while. Forthcoming on Gadi’s vinyl-only Double Standard imprint, it comes coupled with a suitably twisted Benoit & Sergio cover of Daft Punk’s ‘Around the World. All in all, a lovely little package.
