Well dub-diddly-dub-dub, the new release on GCW is bloody marvellous. An unctuous slice of dub techno from Berlin’s ever experimental ‘Marx Trukker’. Title track ‘Tape Be Good To Me’ is the standout IMO; it’s thick and chunky and packs in more atmosphere than THIS. What’s great about Marxy though, is his unquestionable ability to nail the elusive mistress that is groove; every hum, thud and scrape reacts with its neighbour. The rest of the EP gets deeper and progressively more erratic as you explore, the curtain call being a remix from Dimitar Dodovski that’s as unpredictable as a box of angry (if not slightly lethargic) frogs. A marvellous release! It’s out in May.
