King Creosote and Jon Hopkin – Diamond Mine

After almost 7 years meandering towards release, King Creosote and Jon Hopkin’s ‘Diamond Mine’ was unleashed a couple of weeks ago. The collaborative effort see’s gems from the depths of King Creosote’s back catalogue, unearthed and lovingly crafted into (to quote KC) “a soundtrack to a romanticised version of a life lived in a Scottish coastal village”. Devastating levels of atmosphere are achieved with the combination of King Creosote’s shanty like songs and Hopkin’s gentle electronica. The recordings also feature live excerpts recorded in the ‘field’, the field being the coastal town of Fife. It’s available now on Domino in all formats, including a beautiful 180g LP. I highly recommend you add it in its entirety to your collection, but I posted the track I felt most fit on this blog to coax you into your decision. Buy here.
